TE13: Creation of dead wood habitat on trees
What is TE13?
TE13 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £285.58 per year for creation of dead wood habitat on trees.
What do I need to do?
* Get a written assessment and advice from a qualified arboricultural expert before applying. The assessment must detail the intended outcome, long-term health maintenance, and subsequent management.
* Remove existing scrub or secondary growth around selected trees.
* Carry out work as per an approved specification or implementation plan between 1 September and end of February , using a qualified arborist.
* When pollarding, cut at a height preventing re-growth grazing.
* Tag each tree to monitor its response to cutting.
What evidence do I need?
You must keep and provide a map showing the location of mature and veteran standing trees and standing and fallen deadwood with your application.

photographs of the completed work
a copy of the arboricultural assessment
