CWD22: Manage wood pasture and parkland
What is CWD22?
CWD22 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £212.00 per year for manage wood pasture and parkland.
What do I need to do?
You must manage existing trees, including open-grown and pollarded, protecting them from harm and ensuring a continuous population at all life stages. Leave all deadwood in place and manage native scrub. Maintain an intact sward, following an agreed cutting or grazing regime to promote biodiversity and protect historic features. Prohibited activities include applying fertilisers/manures, most pesticides, and various ground disturbance or feeding practices near trees.
Your Natural England adviser will assess your land and work with you to adapt and agree the activities you must do to achieve this action’s aim. All mandatory activities will be set out in your agreement document.

maintain the existing trees
* protect newly planted trees and replace any planted trees that fail to establish

You must keep evidence to show what you have done to complete this action. If it’s not clear that you have done this action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve its aim, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) may ask for this evidence.
You must supply the evidence if they ask for it, including:
photographs
associated invoices
* field operations at the parcel level
