What is CWD20?
CWD20 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £544.00 per year for create wood pasture.
What do I need to do?
Establish saplings and young trees through natural regeneration or planting, ensuring a suitable number of trees at each life stage (sapling, young, medium, mature) of the same species as existing veteran trees.
Keep and manage open-grown or pollarded trees to extend their longevity.
Protect all trees (including veteran and ancient trees and their rootstocks) from harm by machinery, grazing livestock, and pests.
Protect newly planted trees and replace any that fail to establish.
Leave standing, attached, and fallen deadwood in place (unless agreed otherwise with your Natural England adviser).

You must keep evidence to show what you have done to complete this action. If it’s not clear that you have done this action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve its aim, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) may ask for this evidence. You must supply the evidence if they ask for it.
