WD5: Restoration of lowland wood pasture and parkland
What is WD5?
WD5 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £371 per year for restoration of lowland wood pasture and parkland.
What do I need to do?
* Graze or cut to maintain turf with taller tussocks.
* Keep all mature and veteran standing trees and standing and fallen deadwood , consistent with safety guidance.
* Protect existing trees from damage by livestock and wild animals, managing tree guards.
* Protect parkland features including fencing, historical structures, lakes, and ponds.
* Plant additional trees or encourage regeneration as required.
What evidence do I need?
On your annual claim you will be asked to declare that you have not carried out any activities prohibited by the option requirements.
You must keep the following records and supply them on request.
Any bank statements, receipted invoices, consents or permissions connected with the work
Photographs of all trees and standing and fallen deadwood
* Photographs showing any areas where sward enhancement will be carried out
How much does WD5 pay?
WD5 pays £371 per year.
Which land is eligible?
It’s available for Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier to restore existing Lowlands (Outside the SDA) wood pasture and parkland that is in poor condition. Recreational parkland is only eligible where it forms part of the farmed environment.
