What is LIG1?

LIG1 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £151.00 per year for lig1.

What do I need to do?

* Minimize nutrient inputs to no more than 12 tonnes per ha of cattle farmyard manure or equivalent.

* Graze or cut the grassland to achieve the action's aim, minimizing bare ground and maintaining an intact grass sward.

* Do not apply digestate or industrial by-products, carry out drainage works, plough, cultivate, or re-seed.

* Do not use pesticides, except for weed wiping or spot treating injurious weeds, invasive non-native species, nettles, or bracken.

* If cutting for conserved forage, do not graze or cut for at least 7 continuous weeks during spring and summer before the forage cut, and leave an uncut margin.

What evidence do I need?

You should keep evidence to show what you’ve done to complete the action. This will help if it’s not clear that you’ve completed the action in a way that could reasonably be expected to achieve this action’s aim. You must supply this evidence if we ask for it.

This evidence could include photographs and other documentation to show what you’ve done to complete this action. It could also include field operations at a land parcel level and associated invoices. If you choose to take photographs, read the guidance on how to take photographic evidence (annex A).
