The Water stewardship module helps farms that apply slurry, manure or manufactured fertiliser to stay within the Farming Rules for Water and NVZ requirements. It checks every application record against the rules, flags problems before they become enforcement issues, and gives farmers a pre-spread check so they can confirm a field is safe to spread on before they start.
Water stewardship is a Pro-licensed module, available on request. If you do not see it in the sidebar, contact your organisation administrator or Regeno support to enable it.
Opening Water stewardship
Open your farm and choose Water from the sidebar. The module has four tabs:
Overview - Current status at a glance: applications assessed, failed checks, slurry storage headroom, and any flags that need your attention
Spread Check - Check whether a field is suitable to spread on today and over the next few days
Flags - Risk flags raised by the automatic sweep, with acknowledgement and resolution
Records - Every field with its last assessment verdict
Overview tab
The Overview answers one question: is anything wrong right now? It shows:
Applications recorded - in the last 12 months
Assessed - how many have been checked against the rules
Failed a check - these need a response (shown in red)
Not assessable - missing an input such as parcel distance to watercourse
Slurry storage - current verdict and weeks of headroom at the current rate of production
Next action - a plain-English prompt for the most pressing issue
Spread Check tab
Use the Spread Check before each application to confirm the field is suitable. Select the field, the material type (slurry, farmyard manure, poultry manure, or manufactured fertiliser) and the application method (splash plate, spreader, trailing shoe, trailing hose, or injected). The check runs the same rules as the after-the-fact assessment, so a day the Spread Check calls suitable cannot come back as a breach on the record that follows.
Flags tab
The periodic sweep raises flags when it detects a potential problem - for example a storage level that is approaching the regulatory minimum, or an application pattern that is trending towards a breach. Flags have three severity levels: High, Warning, and For information.
Two actions are available on each flag:
Acknowledge - records that you have seen the flag
Resolve - records what you did in response (requires a note). This is the record an inspector or buyer will ask for.
Records tab
Shows every field with its last assessment verdict: Pass, Fail, Unknown (missing an input), or Never assessed. A field that has never been assessed is shown as exactly that - not as a pass - so you can see clearly where to act.
Application records are entered via the NVZ page. Once recorded they are assessed automatically by the water rule pack.
Tips
Run the Spread Check before every application - it takes seconds and gives you a written record that the conditions were suitable at the time
Resolve flags with a note rather than just acknowledging - the note is your evidence of corrective action
Check slurry storage headroom weekly in autumn and winter when spreading windows are restricted
Fields showing Unknown verdict need watercourse distance data added to their parcel record before they can be assessed
