UPL9: Shepherding livestock on moorland (remove stock for at least 6 months)
What is UPL9?
UPL9 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £45.00 per year for shepherding livestock on moorland (remove stock for at least 6 months).
What do I need to do?
* Remove all livestock, except resident ponies, for at least 6 consecutive calendar months.
* When livestock are on moorland, take reasonable steps to minimise access to sensitive features (bare ground, peat soils, wet peaty areas, woody vegetation, grassy vegetation, historic/archaeological features) by shepherding or using temporary fencing.
* Do not carry out supplementary feeding , apart from mineral licks, which must be located away from sensitive features.
* At the start of each year, produce a written stocking and shepherding calendar for each land parcel, detailing:
* Land parcel reference number and hectarage.
What evidence do I need?
You must keep the required written stocking and shepherding record and supply this evidence if we ask for it. It can be recorded on paper or electronically.

Which land is eligible?
