RP5: Cross drains
What is RP5?
RP5 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £750.26 per year for cross drains.
What do I need to do?
Position the cross drain to catch water on the uphill side of the track or yard, transferring it to an outlet without causing new erosion or runoff issues.
Redirect water to a stable drainage outlet like a ditch or culvert; low flows can go to a field or field margin.
Construct the drain either by digging a partially covered channel or a low hump to direct surface flows.
Maintain drains and outfalls by removing built-up sediment or blockages.
* Do not damage or direct runoff towards historic/archaeological features or wildlife areas, and do not allow contaminated water to reach watercourses or ponds.
What evidence do I need?
You must keep photographs of the completed work and provide them with your claim.
You must also keep and provide on request.
any consents or permissions connected with the work
receipted invoices or bank statements where a receipted invoice is unavailable
* photographs of the site before works start
