What do I need to do?

* Construct dams from logs large enough to span the water channel and floodplain for stability.

* Secure the dam in line with Environment Agency or local flood authority consent.

* Align dams at right angles to channel banks and build them 0.3m above normal flow levels in streams to allow unimpeded flow.

* Site dams on slow flowing reaches with at least 2m of floodplain on either side, and build them high enough to spread water onto the floodplain upstream.

* Avoid installing dams upstream of pinch points like bridges or culverts.

What evidence do I need?
