What is RP3?

RP3 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £506.44 per year for watercourse crossings.

What do I need to do?

* Construct a ford at least 4 metres wide.

* Install toe stones secured into the riverbed on the downstream edge to form a gravel trap, ensuring they are at least 600mm below the bed and do not form a weir.

* Ensure the approach slope gradient is no steeper than 1 in 4.

* Use fencing to prevent livestock access to approaches and include rock revetment to protect the river-side approaches.

* Protect the base of the entrance and exit ramp from bankside erosion using either rock armouring or coarse gravel/hardcore with treated retaining boards.
