HEF6: Manage historic and archaeological features on grassland
What is HEF6?
HEF6 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £55.00 per year for manage historic and archaeological features on grassland.
What do I need to do?
* Manage the area to maintain a continuous grass sward or vegetation cover and minimise bare ground, scrub, bracken, and pernicious weeds.
* Do not plough, cultivate, re-seed, harrow, or roll the grassland.
* Do not carry out supplementary feeding or locate vehicle/stock access routes within 6m of the feature (existing tracks are exempt).
* Obtain relevant consents, permissions, or licences (e.g., felling licence, forestry EIA, agriculture EIA) before removing scrub or trees.
You must manage the area containing the historic or archaeological feature in a way that can reasonably be expected to achieve this action’s aim. This includes:
