What is FG16?
FG16 is an action under the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) scheme. It pays £475.44 per year for deer pedestrian gate.
What do I need to do?
* Install the deer fence prior to planting trees , meeting Forestry Commission’s fence specifications.
Ensure the gate is a *[company/minimum|minimum]] of 0.9m wide** and hanging posts are installed and compacted to prevent gaps, following [Forestry Commission’s fence specifications.
* Maintain gates to prevent deer entry until trees no longer need protection.
* Adhere to specific hanging post dimensions (e.g., 2.8m by 120-180mm for Red, Sika, Fallow deer) and gate height/mesh size specifications (e.g., 1.8m height, 200x300mm mesh for Red and Sika deer) based on the target deer species.
