Understanding roles and permissions

Written by Sven Poppelmann

[[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] uses three roles to control what team members can see and do within your organisation. Understanding these helps you set up your team with the right level of access.

The three roles

  • Owner - Full access to everything including billing, organisation settings, team management, and farm configuration. Typically the account creator or business owner.

  • Consultant - Full access to assigned farms. Can invite Farmers to their farms, add and edit farm data, and view reports. Cannot manage billing or organisation-wide settings.

  • Farmer - Can add and edit farm data and view data for farms they have access to. Day-to-day farm work without management privileges.

Choosing the right role

  • Advisors and consultants who manage multiple client farms should be Consultants

  • Farm staff who do day-to-day field work and data entry should be Farmers

  • Organisation owners who need full control including billing should be Owners

Tips

  • Start with the [[company/minimum|minimum]] role needed - you can always upgrade later

  • Consultants and Farmers only see farms they've been specifically granted access to

  • Only Owners and Consultants can invite new team members
