The farming hub

Written by Sven Poppelmann

Farmwalk lets you record the day-to-day reality of running the farm - hedgerows, soils, livestock, crops and weather. These farming records sit alongside Schemes (where compliance lives) and feed the same underlying data.

Accessing farming features

Farming features are accessed from within a specific farm. Open your farm, then use the tab bar at the top of the page to navigate to Land Data, Hedgerow Surveys, or Evidence. Individual sections (Soil Tests, Livestock, Planting, Weather History) are linked from the relevant scheme dashboards and from the farm tasks view.

The six categories

  • Hedgerow Surveys - condition assessments and the survey schedule

  • Soil Tests - lab results, trends and management plans per parcel

  • Fertilizer Records - nutrient applications by parcel

  • Livestock - herds, animal lists, movements and health

  • Planting - current crops, varieties and rotations

  • Weather History - observations including frost-risk records (feature-flagged)

Add Record

The Add Record button at the top right is a shortcut into whichever screen makes sense for what you want to log. From there you can record a soil sample, a hedgerow survey, a movement and so on.

Why use Farming?

  • One source of truth - records you make here are reused by your scheme dashboards (e.g. soil tests appear automatically against SFI soil actions)

  • Trend insight - charts and history views help you see how soil health, hedgerow condition or rainfall are changing over the years

  • Audit-ready - structured records are far easier to defend in an inspection than loose paperwork

Tips

  • Set yourself a recurring time each month to update Farming records - it is much harder to reconstruct them later

  • Most screens support import from spreadsheets if you already keep records elsewhere

  • Use the Map alongside Farming to remind yourself which parcel a record belongs to
