Bulk creating farms and agreements

Written by Sven Poppelmann

If you are onboarding a large portfolio, the Bulk Create feature on the Oversight Farms tab lets you create many farms - and their SFI or Countryside Stewardship agreements - in a single operation instead of one farm at a time.

Opening the bulk create menu

Go to Oversight > Farms. In the top-right of the page, click the Bulk create button. A dropdown gives you two paths:

  • Create farms - add farms by name and SBI number

  • Create from agreements - upload agreement PDFs and let Farmwalk extract the farms and agreements automatically

Path A - Create farms by name and SBI

Choose Create farms. Add one row per farm, entering the farm name and SBI number. You can add as many rows as you need. When your list is ready, click Preview.

The preview step shows which farms are new (will be created) and which are already present (will be skipped - no duplicates). Review the list, then click Create to start the job.

Farmwalk fetches RPA land data automatically for each new farm. You can dismiss the job to the background and come back to it using the Bulk jobs button.

Path B - Create from agreement PDFs

Choose Create from agreements. Upload one or more SFI or Countryside Stewardship agreement PDFs. Select the scheme type that applies to all the files in the batch.

Farmwalk uploads each PDF, extracts the SBI number, creates or deduplicates the farm, fetches RPA land data, and then runs the standard agreement import pipeline. Agreements land as Draft - you review them before approving.

Once all agreements show as Ready for Review, a Bulk approve action creates the live farm agreements in one click.

Monitoring bulk jobs

Click the Bulk jobs button (with an active-job badge) to open the jobs drawer. Each job shows live progress per farm - creation, RPA fetch, and (for Path B) agreement parsing status. Failed farms are listed with their error so you can fix and retry individually.

Jobs persist until you dismiss them, so you can close your browser and return later.

Tips

  • Use Path A when you have a spreadsheet of farms to onboard - paste name and SBI into each row

  • Use Path B when you have a stack of agreement PDFs at the start of a scheme year

  • Always review draft agreements before bulk-approving - the AI importer is accurate but not infallible

  • Deduplication is automatic - re-running the same SBI will skip the existing farm
