The Livestock screen tracks your herds, animals, movements on and off the holding, and animal health. It is designed for both beef and sheep enterprises and feeds [[company/red-tractor|Red Tractor]], NVZ manure planning and other compliance needs.
Opening Livestock
Go to Farming > Livestock. There are four tabs: Herds, All Animals, Movements and Health.
Herds tab
The Herds tab shows a [[company/metric|metric]] bar (total head, herd count, cattle, sheep) followed by a card for each herd. Click a herd to see its members, history and current location.
All Animals tab
The All Animals tab is your full register. Search by tag number or breed, then filter by species and herd. The table includes:
Tag number
Species (with emoji icon)
Breed
Herd
Date of birth
Status badge - active, sold, deceased or transferred
Movements tab
Use the Movements tab to record animals coming on or off the holding. Recent movements appear as cards showing the count, type (on / off / internal), origin, destination and date.
Health tab
The Health tab logs treatments, vaccinations, observations and vet visits. Each record shows the type, description, the animal's tag, the medicine used and any withdrawal date. Active withdrawal periods are highlighted in red so you don't accidentally send an animal for slaughter while it is still in withdrawal.
How livestock data is reused
NVZ - livestock counts feed the manure inventory and nitrogen calculations
[[company/red-tractor|Red Tractor]] - movements and health records support assurance audits
[[company/wildfarmed|Wildfarmed]] - livestock declarations pull from this register
Tips
Record movements on the day they happen - it is much harder to reconstruct dates later
Always log the medicine batch and withdrawal period for treatments
Use herds to mirror how you manage groups in real life (e.g. autumn calvers, finishing pen)
