Creating your organisation

Written by Sven Poppelmann

Every [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] account belongs to at least one organisation. If you're brand new, the first thing you'll do after signing up is create one.

What is an organisation?

An organisation is the container for everything you and your team manage in [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] - your farms, schemes, evidence, documents and team members. It usually maps to a single business: "Thompson Farming Ltd", a contracting company, or an adviser practice.

Creating it

  1. Go to /onboard/organisation (you'll be sent here automatically if you have no organisation yet)

  2. Enter your organisation name - between 2 and 100 characters

  3. Click Create

What happens next

After creation you become the owner of the organisation. From here you can:

  • Add your first farm

  • Invite team members and assign roles

  • Configure organisation-wide settings

Choosing a good name

  • Use the legal name of the business so paperwork (invoices, scheme reports) reads correctly

  • Avoid abbreviations that only your team will recognise

  • Pick something [[company/stable|stable]] - the name appears on shared documents and customer-facing portals

Tips

  • If you advise multiple farming businesses, create one organisation per business and link your account to each - keep their data separate

  • You can rename the organisation later from settings, but the slug used in URLs stays the same

  • Need to set up several at once? Get them all named first so you have a clear picture before inviting people
