The Command Bar sits at the top of the [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] navigation. It lets you ask [[company/questions|questions]] in plain English, jump to any section of the app instantly, and create or find records - all without leaving your current view.
What it does
The Command Bar works in two modes:
Natural language - type a question or request and [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] interprets it in context (e.g. "show me overdue tasks for the SFI agreement")
Slash commands - type / to browse quick actions organised by category
Slash commands
Type / to open the command menu. You can keep typing to filter - e.g. /task or /map. Use the arrow keys to move through results and press Enter or Tab to select.
Create
/task - create a new task
/voice - record a voice note
/consult - start a consult session
/hedgerow - start a hedgerow survey
Navigate
/map - open the farm map
/schemes - view schemes and compliance
/tasks - view all tasks
/vault - open the file vault
/evidence - review evidence
/deadlines - view upcoming deadlines
Search
/search - search across all data
/search-tasks - find a specific task
/search-files - find a file in the vault
/search-agreements - find a specific agreement
Search commands open an inline search mode. Results appear as you type - just click any result to navigate straight to it.
Upload
/upload - upload evidence files to the vault
Reports
/reports - view generated reports
/generate-report - generate a new compliance report
Health & Safety
/incident - report a health & safety incident
/risk - create a risk assessment
/equipment - start an equipment check
/training - log a training record
Oversight (org-wide)
These commands are available to advisers and managers with multi-farm access:
/oversight - open the oversight dashboard
/declarations - track declarations across farms
/gap-analysis - view the gap matrix
/team - view team workload
/compliance - cross-farm compliance view
Context pins
Pins appear inside the Command Bar and scope every query or command to a specific context. The bar supports three pin types:
Farm pin - automatically set to your current farm. Click it to switch to another farm in your organisation.
Date range pin - click the calendar icon to add a time filter. Choose Today, This week, This month, or pick a custom range. Remove it with the × on the chip.
Agreement pin - click the clipboard icon to scope queries to a specific scheme agreement. Useful when a farm has multiple active agreements.
Pins stack - you can have a farm, a date range, and an agreement active at the same time. The placeholder text updates to [[company/reflect|reflect]] your current context.
Live suggestions
When you focus the Command Bar with an empty input, [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] shows contextual quick-action suggestions based on what's most relevant to your current farm and situation. Once you start typing (2+ characters), these are replaced by intent-matched suggestions that update as you type.
Keyboard navigation
↑ / ↓ - move through slash commands or suggestions
Enter - select the highlighted item, or submit a natural language query
Tab - select the highlighted slash command
Escape - close the menu or dismiss the bar
Tips
You don't need to use slash commands for navigation - plain English works too. Try "go to tasks" or "open the map".
The / button at the right edge of the bar opens the slash menu without typing.
For multi-farm users, pin "All Farms" to ask [[company/questions|questions]] across your entire organisation at once.
Combine an agreement pin with a date range to ask things like "what evidence is due this month for my CS agreement?".
