If your farm land is in a Nitrate Vulnerable Zone (NVZ), [[company/farmwalk|Farmwalk]] helps you meet the strict rules on nitrogen applications - including closed periods, storage requirements, and annual application limits. The NVZ module includes built-in calculators so you can stay compliant without manual spreadsheets.

Adding NVZ to your farm

  1. Go to your farm's Schemes page

  2. Click Add Scheme and select NVZ

  3. Confirm your NVZ designation and affected parcels

Built-in NVZ tools

Your NVZ scheme includes specialist calculators and record-keeping tools:

  • Nitrogen calculator - Track total N applications against your 170 kg N/ha limit

  • Storage calculator - Verify your slurry and manure storage meets capacity rules

  • Closed periods - View and track the closed spreading periods for your land type

  • Manure inventory - Record manure and slurry volumes produced and moved

  • Spreading tracker - Log each spreading event with date, field, and volume

  • Applications - Full history of all nitrogen applications by parcel

  • History chart - Visual trend of N applications over time

Reports and tasks
